Wilmington Wedding Florist : Amanda & Harry at the Brantwyn Estate

Today's blog features our second event at the Brantwyn Estate in Wilmington, DE, and we have to say that we are really starting to love this venue!  Amanda and Harry's wedding was a fall explosion, with lots of foliage, pumpkins, corn, and greenery.  Her love of color and enthusiasm for her decor are only part of what made us fall in love with this bride - she was gracious, inspiring, and her big heart was easy to see in her attitude and generousity.

Femina Photo & Design provided this amazing imagery for us to share - we love how the photographer snuck the couple out during the reception for them to have beautiful photos, with light only from the hanging lanterns in the trees.

Please enjoy this beautiful fall wedding, below!

Amanda wanted natural shape in her bouquet, and we complied with a mix of dahlias, celosia, callicarpa, purple kale, roses and ranunculus.  She added her own touches with lace from Italy and a fleur di lis charm.

Amanda's bridesmaids wore gorgeous cranberry gowns, and carried smaller versions of the bridal bouquet.

These hanging lanterns provided a very romantic backdrop of flickering candlelight for the ceremony spot.

Keeping up with Amanda and Harry's theme of "FALLing in Love,"  we added Indian corn as aisle arrangements, tied off with burgundy ribbon.

Amanda wanted us to create a tree out of florals and foliage so that guests could hang "leaves" as part of her guest book.  This was such a fun, creative, and beautiful way to represent the relationships the couple has with their family and friends.  We constructed this tree with our wrought iron base, building up layers with moss, leaves, branches, hydrangeas, roses and dahlias.

Excellent advice there, Kyle.

Brantwyn is a historical manor, so there are many different rooms for dining during events.   We used two different types of low centerpieces to break up the space, but kept with Amanda's wishes for bright colors and a fall theme.

This compote centerpiece was made using purple thistle (!), hydrangea, magnolias leaves, dahlias, roses, berries and greenery.

We helped bring some life to this lantern centerpiece by placing it on our wood slices and surrounding it with gourds, berries and some more of that great Indian corn.

The fireplaces in Brantwyn are too great a focal point to just leave alone!  We added mantle decor by mixing pillar candles, pumpkins, gourds, leaves and Amanda's different banners.

This adorable cake didn't need much decorating, but a single rose served as the perfect topper.

Congratulations, Amanda and Harry!  Thank you so much for inviting us to be a part of your special day!

Amanda's Bride Diaries

What was the most standout, "Wow!" moment of your wedding day?

The entire event was WOW but I think our vows and the scenery and string quartet at the ceremony take the cake. Harry says the biggest wow moment was when I walked down the aisle. I exited the beautiful house of the estate and walked the long walk with my father. The string quartet played Coldplay's "Yellow". It was perfection.

We know things don't always go as planned...Were there any entertaining wedding bloopers?

One of our guests accidentally locked the groom and some of our family and friends in the bar room! Harry had to practically break down the door to escape. Whoops!

Any wedding toasts that made you laugh til you cried? Cry your eyes out? Gasp in shock?

Every single one of the speeches made us cry - Harry's dad gave the most heart touching toast. Not a dry eye in the house!

We don't judge!  Did you have any Bridezilla moments of weakness?

Bridezilla? Me? No way!

Did you have a wedding planner? If so, what did he/she do to make your day run smoother? Did they fulfill your expectations?

Harry and I were the wedding planners. We were great. 4 stars.

Cake or cupcakes? What was the flavor and theme?

We had one tier - it was chocolate with raspberry preserves. We also served cupcakes: red velvet with cream cheese icing, marble cake with chocolate ganache and a fall flavored cupcake - cinnamon with a fresh cream icing.

We always try to bring your floral dreams to life...did we succeed? In what ways? Is there any room for improvement?

Our floral arrangements were OUTSTANDING. The guests were in awe of how beautiful everything looked. I LOVED the trees at the entrance, and the ceremony space. It was truly magical.

What song really got the party started?

Our guests were on the dance floor before dessert was even served! That floor was packed the entire night. I think the most memorable moment was when the DJ played "Jump Around" and I turned around to see Harry's mom jumping up and down in her 5 inch stilettos.

I cried the day after our wedding because I was so overwhelmed with how beautiful and perfect it was. I credit you ladies for a great deal of that!
