Cape May Florist: Mary Ellen & Michael at Congress Hall featuring Bride Diaries

It's official, some of my favorite photos of all time are in this blog post, I hope you enjoy them as much as I have! Saltwater Studios has been added to our list of recommended photographers, and you can see why! Serving the Philly and South Jersey area, they took a little cruise down to Cape May for Mary Ellen & Michael's special day at Congress Hall. We are so glad they did!

Her bouquet features my garden's bounty: peonies, grape hyacinth, plum branches, tulips and imported hydrangea and ranunculus.

I was so happy to make this for her!

Bride Diaries

1. What was your all time favorite moment of your special day?

My favorite moment was walking down the aisle in the arms of my son, and seeing Mike and all our family and friends smiling faces. It made me realize that all the stress and planning was worth it to be able to share this day with all of them.

2. We know things don't always go as planned...were there any entertaining wedding bloopers?

There were really no bloopers, but the day started out dark and dreary. I resolved myself to a rainy wedding day, but around noon the clouds started to part and by the start of the wedding ceremony the sun came out full force!

3. Any wedding toasts that made you laugh, cry, or gasp?

We had many toasts and they were all wonderful, but my son's toast made me cry the most, it was so heartfelt as he welcomed my new husband Mike to the family.

4. It's okay to admit it - did you have any Bridezilla moments?

I did not have any Bridezilla moments, I was a very relaxed bride. My vendors can vouch for me (we sure can, she was awesome!!!), but I would tease Mike and call him the Groomzilla. He definitely was very involved in the planning of our wedding and had a lot of ideas (we were spared an attack ha!).

5. Did you have a wedding planner? If so, did it make your day run smoother? Was it worth it?

We did not have a personal wedding planner but our reception was at Congress Hall in Cape May, NJ and they provided a planner to assist us who was very helpful. (Meredith is awesome, we just had lunch with her last week!)

6. Cake or cupcakes? What was the flavor?

We choose a traditional 3 tiered wedding cake our flavors were red velvet with butter cream icing and vanilla pound cake with strawberries and fresh whipped cream, it was delicious!

7. We always try to bring your floral dreams to life...did we succeed? In what ways? Is there any room for improvement?

My father is a landscape gardener so flowers have always been very important to me. Since we got married April 5th, I wanted to incorporate a Spring theme. I knew I wanted certain spring flowers like tulips, grape hyacinths, flowering cherry branches. I also did not want an all white bouquet, I wanted color and my favorite flower which is peonies. When I met with Garden Party, I went over all my ideas, and I showed them my pinterest board so they could get a handle on the look I wanted. Ultimately I gave them free reign to design my Spring themed wedding and they exceeded my expectations. When my bouquets were delivered, I actually started to cry at how beautiful they were, they did a fantastic job and I would highly recommend them. (I put this last part in bold to make sure you didn't miss the key words here:free reign! Thank you for letting us do our thing!)

8. What song really got the party started?

It didn't take a song to get the party started, it started the minute we entered the reception. Everyone was up and dancing from the beginning, we squeezed every bit of fun out of that day!!

9. Who were your vendors?

Catering - Congress Hall, Cape May, NJ

Bakery - Congress Hall, Cape May, NJ

Photographer - Saltwater Studios, Stephanie McDowell who was phenomenal!

Dress - David's Bridal

Hair and Makeup - Jessica Spina, Your Day Your Way

Entertainment - DJ Pat Clark

10. I'm sure your day was amazing, but if you could change one thing about your wedding what would it be? Or would you not change anything at all?

I wouldn't change a thing about our beautiful day, we have wonderful memories that will last forever.

Once again, we thank Mary Ellen and Michael for letting us into your perfect day and Stephanie from Saltwater Studios for sharing your art with us.
