The Windrift Hotel is a relatively new venue that can be classified as modern - it has these amazing globe light fixtures that are suspended in the reception space and its signature bold blue walls are easily distinguished among a town of pastels. The Windrift is the only wedding venue in the beach town of Avalon with a second level ocean view - the perfect backdrop for a sunset cocktail hour.
While the Windrift is a standout type of hotel and restaurant, our beautiful bride, Jamie, and her dashing groom, Dan, managed to soften the edges and make this popular wedding venue their own. There is a whimsical, dreamlike air that shows so clearly in these photos by The More We See Photography of blushing pink, romantic white and forest green. Scrolling through these photos, we wanted to take a breath and savor the moment and emotion that was so eloquently displayed in each one. We see an incredible amount of talent from our photographer friends, but there is something about Jamie and Dan's wedding is uniquely special and so, so sweet - we hope you can enjoy it, too.
Jamie's bouquet is the epitome of romance, with white football mums, peach garden roses, white waxflower, dusty miller, and peonies.
Placing a brooch on a bouquet wrap is usually used in remembrance of loved ones who have passed and a way to have them walk with you down the aisle.
Dan's bout was made of a single pink spray rose, accented with wax flower and seeded eucalyptus.
Don't those gold altar vases go perfectly with the organ?! Such a great fit!
The aisle arrangements are hanging glass and rope jars with white hydrangeas and they walked down a lace tr
These window panes are a great way to display the guest seating and can match a variety of wedding themes. The sand at the bottom of the pillar candles are another simple touch to match the beach setting.
Silver mercury cups with a single mother of pearl rose were the perfect final touch.
This card table is full of sentiment. Our rental card box script blends perfectly with Jamie's framed quote. Our tall grey pail is filled with silver dollar eucalyptus, and scattered among the table are various photos of couples in the family. Displaying the generations of love is such a romantic way for Jamie and Dan to start their own marriage.
If you know us at all, you know we love a showy linen! This is our gold sequined linen's modest sister - the champagne frill is just as eye catching as the sequins, and has such a unique texture. The neutral color keeps it from being too over the top - if there even is such thing! This was also used for the sweetheart table - keep scrolling for a close up.
For these long tables, we alternated between our glass cloche featuring mercury bud vases, and bronze compotes. Crisp white linens helped these hydrangeas, roses, spray roses, mums, and dusty miller stand out nicely.
Spray roses were used as a napkin detail - it's little details like these that help bring an entire theme together.
Jamie chose these floral runners as another version of her centerpieces. These are a very elegant option for long tables, and help to keep the settings consistent.
These tall pillars for candles help add some dimension to the room - and check out those globe light fixtures we were raving about earlier!
This sweetheart table is one of our favorites. The paper cranes hanging down against the champagne linen makes this a stunning feature for the room. We scattered some votives and rose petals, but adding the vase for Jamie to display her bridal bouquet was the true statement piece.
And now for dessert! Unfortunately, we can't take credit for that incredible flower on top - believe it or not, it's a sugar flower! Darren at The Cake Studio of Ocean City never disappoints!
Best wishes to you, Jamie and Dan!
Jamie's Bride Diaries
What was the most standout, "Wow!" moment of your wedding day?
There were so many moments like this, but one of my favorite moments was seeing the reception space with Dan for the first time. It was so beautiful and went way beyond my expectations that I almost cried! Just the whole ambience of our venue from the cocktail hour on the roof deck to dancing the night away under the stars, it was a perfect day.
2. We know things don't always go as planned...Were there any entertaining wedding bloopers?
My shoes ripped! Before I even walked down the aisle. And they were not cheap shoes!
3. Any wedding toasts that made you laugh til you cried? Cry your eyes out? Gasp in shock?
All of the speeches made us laugh and cry but I think we cried from laughing so hard!
4. We don't judge!Did you have any Bridezilla moments of weakness?
When my shoe ripped!
5. Did you have a wedding planner? If so, what did he/she do to make your day run smoother? Did they fulfill your expectations?
We did not hire a planner but we had some help with design items and the wedding coordinator and banquet manager at the Windrift were simply amazing. They took care of everything and I didn't have to worry about a thing that day.
6. Cake or cupcakes? What was the flavor and theme?
Cake! We had 2 flavors, both chocolate! Our favorite was the devils food cake with salted buttercream icing. It was a 3 tier ivory cake with ruffles covering the entire thing and a sugar flower sitting on the top tier.
7. We always try to bring your floral dreams to life...did we succeed? In what ways? Is there any room for improvement?
We loved our flowers! Everyone was raving about the centerpieces. The colors and textures were exactly what I was envisioning.
8. What song really got the party started?
Every song! As soon as the dancing started, nobody sat down until the end of the night!
