Maryland Wedding Florist : Nicole & Tim at the Kitty Knight House feat. Bride Diaries

2015 has been the year of weddings for friends of A Garden Party!  We have been swept up in the whirlwind and are so happy that we are able to share our passion for flowers to couples that we have known and loved for years.  Today's blog features our good friends, Nicole and Tim, and their wedding at the lovely

Kitty Knight House

in Georgetown, Maryland.

Nicole was so easy-going with her flower selections, and let us have as much fun as we wanted.  We definitely took advantage of the opportunity and are so happy that

Edwin Remsberg Photography

was able to capture the uniqueness of Nicole's bouquet and centerpieces.

Go big or go home.  This single

King pink protea

was a complete showstopper and our pride and joy in Nicole's bouquet.  We wanted to create balance with such an amazing flower, and mixed it with

seeded euc

, peach

lisianthus

,

jasmine vine

,

Queen Anne's lace

and mini waxflower.

We created a smaller version of Nicole's bouquet for her bridesmaid, and replaced the protea with

blue thistle

, succulents and

peach stock

.

Having one bridesmaids left us with some room to get creative with

floral accessories

.  Here are Nicole's hair flowers, paired with a glimpse of her mother's floral cuff.  How adorable are those little succulents?!

The couple wanted to make sure guests were clearly directed to the venue, so we created some

custom chalk art

to lead the way.

Galvanized buckets

with a variety of Queen Anne's lace, seeded eucalyptus, greenery, stock and

limelight hydrangea

were lined along the pathway to welcome guests to the ceremony.

The couple's ceremony had a beautiful backdrop featuring the

The Kitty Knight House granted the most perfect view of the sunset, adding to the romantic atmosphere.

We staged Nicole and Tim's placecard table with

canvases displaying guest names and table numbers

.  Scattered milkglass vases, driftwood, potted succulents, votives and lanterns served as accents to keep up with the couple's theme.

Wooden crates

helped add dimension to the place card table, and the

orchids

gave a pop of color.  We also love our

newest lanterns

for the elegant, nautical vibe!

We created two different types of centerpieces for the reception.  Here is our bubble bowl with an arrangement of hydrangea, pink roses,  Queen Anne's lace, thistle and wax flower.

The second arrangement featured our bubble bowls with a terrarium theme, including

potted succulents,

protea, and river rocks.

We love this cluster of decor for Nicole and Tim's sweetheart table.

Driftwood

always gives a ecclectic yet polished look, especially when paired with our sleek lanterns and

milk glass vases

.

Wooden pedestals boasted these twin arrangements of protea, thistle, hydrangea, stock and greenery to sit behind the sweetheart table.  We just love this full, natural look, it adds such an interesting aspect to the decor!

Our diana trio surrounded this adorable wedding cake, placed on a woodslice cake stand.  Nicole and Tim's cake topper was adorable and personal - and that icing doesn't look too shabby, either!

(they were amazing!)

WOW moment of the day:

when Mary arrived with the bouquets and wrist cuffs. I had not micromanaged flowers at all, I knew they would be great, so I was so surprised when I finally got to see everything. The protea was my star flower and it was definitely the star of my bouquet. I fell in love with them when I visited South Africa earlier this year and it was so awesome seeing them in my bouquet! My girlfriends absolutely loved the wrist cuffs and I'm so glad that I ended up getting them. They were so surprised and it made them all so happy, their reactions were worth it.

For our cake

, we had a small

Smith Island Cake

for us to cut. It's the state dessert of Maryland and I have always admired how long it must take someone to make them, as they are ten very thin layers of cake with frosting in between. There is a great frosting to cake ratio :) so we cut one cake, traditional vanilla cake with chocolate frosting, and served ice cream to the guests. We actually took the cake home with us and munched on it for the next week or so until it was gone.

To  A Garden Party:

I was beyond impressed with how all the flowers and decorations turned out for the day. We were very minimal with decorations, as we were outside in a tent overlooking a marina, so we didn't want to over-decorate and take away from the beauty of the location. Mary understood exactly what we wanted and the centerpieces were beautifully simple. Same with the ceremony location. Being on the river and outdoors was beautiful enough, and Mary used the buckets with antiqued hydrangeas to accentuate the aisle leading up to the pavilion and the pillars to identify where the vows were taking place. We loved how the seating chart came out, with everyone's names hand-written. I got a number of compliments on it! Again, it was simple and elegant which was exactly what we wanted.
