How to Wear Flowers in Your HairBy: admin

Flowers are a beautiful way to glam up your hairstyle on your wedding day. (It is also perfect for bridesmaids and flower girls.) The tradition of decorating your hair with flowers dates back to the 1800s. In the 60s, girls wore flowers in their hair to portray their connection to nature and symbolize love, innocence, and divine beauty. (Mary always says that she would definitely wear fresh flowers in her hair if she could do her wedding over again! There are only a few occasions that it fits!)

According to Hairfinder.com, certain flowers symbolize different emotions and characteristics. The site suggests that the flowers below have the following meanings.

Daisy – innocence and purity
Gardenia – secret love
Camellia – gratitude
Ginger – strength
Tuberose – forbidden pleasures
Hibiscus – delicate beauty, sensitivity
Red rose – passion, love
Pink rose – friendship, admiration, happiness
Apricot rose – desire, admiration, modesty
White rose – purity, secrecy, spiritual love
Jasmine – Sensuality
Yellow carnation – disappointment, rejection
Spider Flower – “run away with me”
Violet – modesty, faithfulness

You can add flowers to a variety of hairstyles, including hair that is down, up or half down. Flowers can also used to create a headband, which is adorable on flower girls. Check out these picture of A Garden Party brides (and flower girls) who wore flowers in their hair.

A Garden Party Review: Sara Rue’s Butterfly and Hummingbird Themed WeddingBy: admin

Credit: MP/SC/Flynet

Last weekend, Shedding for the Wedding Hostess Sara Rue married fiancé Kevin Price. The couple tied the knot during a beachfront, hummingbird-and-butterfly-themed ceremony. According to Us Magazine and People StyleWatch, butterflies and hummingbirds were incorporated into everything from the invitations to the cake to the bride’s shoes.

While the ceremony and reception were beautiful, the real showstopper was the beautiful bride. According to People, Rue, a Jenny Craig spokeswoman, lost 50-lbs, four dress sizes, before the big day. To celebrate her achievement, Rue flaunted a strapless Amsale dress.  The princess-like gown was perfect for the whimsical butterfly-and-hummingbird-themed wedding.

I love the butterfly and hummingbird theme. It is perfect for spring or summer, especially an outdoor wedding. Since butterflies typically symbolize change and transformation, they are a perfect symbol for a marriage.  Check out a butterfly themed wedding that A Garden Party did on our blog post about Tommy and Shannon.  Here are a few other butterfly themed flower and decor ideas:

A Garden Party Review of Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton’s WeddingBy: admin

This past Saturday, Blake Shelton took a break from The Voice to marry country superstar Miranda Lambert. The wedding took place on a ranch in Miranda’s home state, Texas.

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are two of my favorite country stars. Not only can they sing but they both have a down-to-earth personality that makes you wish they were your best friends. Their country charm is apparent in their wedding details.

According to Fox News, Miranda Lambert wore her mother’s wedding dress. Usually celebrity weddings are all about the designer gowns; Miranda chose to wear a dress that was personal and special. Personally, I think a dress with a story is more impressive than a dress with a giant price tag.

Miranda and Blake also personalized their wedding jewelry. According to Atlanta Pop Culture Examiner Radell Smith, Miranda gave Blake Shelton a custom-made band based on his tattoo. The band features a black diamond on the inside of the band, per special request of Miranda Lambert. Radell reveals that Miranda wore a three tiered, 30-carat necklace, which is worth $1.2 million dollars. Her wedding band was just as breathtaking. Crafted to match Blake’s band, Miranda’s wedding band was a 5-carat white diamond “Eternity” ring.

On May 11, Miranda tweeted, “Last thing loaded for the wedding. Harvested by… Me!!!”” The twitter update linked to a picture of wrapped deer cutlet “harvested” by Miranda. While most celebrities serve extravagant five-course meals, Miranda and Blake stayed true to themselves by serving deer cutlet, which was shot by the bride herself. This unique menu will make their wedding an event to remember.

Pictures of the wedding day have not been released; however, I found photos from Blake and Miranda’s engagement party (courtesy of Ashley’s Bride Guide). Just like their wedding, the engagement party was personalized to illuminate their personalities. According to People, their favorite gifts were matching flasks and his-and-hers shotguns.

Everything from the décor to the couple’s apparel had a rustic, country air. I love the centerpieces, which were freshly cut wildflowers arranged in mason jars, vintage cans, and wooden boxes.

Miranda and Blake’s wedding and engagement party highlighted the couple’s personalities and used details such as the flowers and food to create an event that was truly unique.  All brides (and grooms) should follow Miranda and Blake’s lead to create a day that is special and personalized.

How do you plan to make your wedding unique?

Shannon & David at Town & Country Golf Links in Woodstown, NJBy: admin

It is hard to believe that it is Thanksgiving week already (don’t forget to call and order your Thanksgiving centerpiece – it still isn’t too late)!  This year has been a blur of weddings for Mary and I….and we have loved every minute of it!  Shannon and David were married in early September at The Rushes in Woodstown, NJ. Shannon loved pink and her bridesmaids wore these adorable printed dresses, so of course we brought in all the pink we could with flowers. All photos are courtesy of Diana Harkins Photography - thanks Diana!

Here is Shannon and some of her gorgeous bridal party.  I love these bridesmaids dresses – so cute!  I like when the bridesmaids dresses look like they could be worn again, these would be perfect for a summer party.  Bridesmaids carried coordinating bouquets of white and pink callas with a touch of sweet alstroemeria. Hair and makeup by our new friend , Jess, owner of Your Day Your Way, looking good gals!

For Shannon’s bouquet we used pink and some white mini calla lilies and pink roses.  We added a pink gem to each calla and then used some pink wire to add a modern edge to the bouquet.

This flower girl, Grace, was just too cute!  She wore a halo of pink  spray roses and carried a wand of the pink roses.

Here you can see her flower wand.  This idea is great for little girls…makes them feel like a real princess!

Their ceremony took place outside so we did a screen using 4 of our pillars filled with curly willow, pink crystal strands, hanging mirrors, and the huge pink roses.

Congratulations Shannon and David…hope your enjoying married life and enjoy your first Thanksgiving together as a married couple.  We were honored to be a part of your day! Thanks again Patrick family, see you around town!

Cherry Hill NJ Wedding Florist – Kim & Chris at the Crowne PlazaBy: admin

Happy Monday!  Mary and I had a busy weekend, full of beautiful weddings (our favorite kind of weekend!). Today I want to share Kim and Chris’s wedding with you.  They were married October 1st at the Crowne Plaza in Cherry Hill.  They were such a FUN couple.  Kim was a joy to work with, a gorgeous bride and the kind of girl that always has a smile on her face. Another huge bonus to this wedding was that we met Debbie and Denise of Art + Life Photography. These two were amazing, they even went so far as to send as a zip drive of the images after the wedding. I was so impressed with not only how professional they were, but how friendly, and how amazing the photos turned out. Check it out for yourself…

Kim’s bouquet turned out GORGEOUS.  We used white hydrangea, blush pink roses, white dahlias, pink dendrobium orchids, and pink snowberry…the snowberry was a last minute add and we LOVED how it turned out.  We accented her bouquet with white ostrich feather trim.

Gorgeous photo of a gorgeous couple!

The bridesmaids carried bouquets of pink roses, pink dahlias, dendrobium orchids, pink ranunculas, and touches of the snowberry.  To tie in their black dresses, we accented their bouquets with black ostrich feather trim.

We added some of the feather trim to a dendrobium orchid for Chris’s bout.

The centerpieces were done in our bell vase (a popular rental item).  We used white and light pink hydrangea and at the last minute decided to add the dendrobium orchids.  We filled the top part of the vase with crushed pink glass, and made the actual floral centerpiece in a separate dish so that guests could take them home at the end of the night.  To finish the look we hung the table number, a totally cute picture of the couple making silly faces, inside the vase and added some pink glass crystals hanging off the top.

Thank you Kim and Chris for letting us be a part of your magical day.  We loved all the pink, crystals, and feathers…you were so fun to work with!

South Jersey Florist: A Garden Party – we do it all!By: admin

Now that Mary and I are both doing this full time (YAY!!!) we are able to do so much more.  Not only are we doing weddings, but we are also doing everyday arrangements (nothing says “I love you” like a sunny floral arrangement!), sympathy work, birthday parties, showers, etc.  We love what we do and are so excited that we now have the opportunity to showcase even more of our floral designs. We have fresh flowers in the coolers full time now and flowers getting delivered at least twice a week.  Give us a call next time you need a centerpiece for your table, a bouquet for your girl, or a get well basket for a friend. We pride ourselves on always doing something a little different and using the freshest flowers.  We are even thinking of expanding into holiday home decorating….we are your gals if you need wreaths for your doors, swags for your windows, and a gorgeously decorated tree.  And for all you guys out there that follow our blog (I am sure there are so many, haha!)…what about flowers for a year for your mom or your wife – that would be an awesome present!  Every woman loves getting flowers!  We are happy to deliver to Salem, Gloucester and Cumberland counties for a minimal fee. Elmer Hospital is just down the road, we make floral deliveries there often to help brighten a patients day. Recently, Mary got a phone call at 5 pm for a birthday arrangement and it was delivered by 6 pm….we just HAD to get it there on her birthday, and we were happy to do it!

Of course I can never do a blog without adding at least one picture, so here you go. These are a few arrangements that we made this morning, check out Lee playing in the background! Enjoy!
