South Jersey Wedding Florist: Maggiano’s in Cherry Hill, NJBy: admin

Fall is finally here!  I was so excited to do Meredith and Dan’s wedding a few weeks ago, it was our first ‘fall’ wedding of the year so far. I got married in the fall, and for some reason it has always been my favorite time of the year.  Meredith came to us and had a vision of a fall wedding that was elegant and beautiful and I really think we made it happen.  Meredith and Dan’s wedding was held at Maggiano’s in Cherry Hill, NJ. We made a special trip to check out the room ahead of time, and were more than happy to enjoy a really nice lunch while we were there (the food was to die for). This couple was a joy to work with and we are thrilled to have these pictures from the talented Denise Mabilog to share with you.

Meredith’s bouquet was gorgeous with ivory dahlias, white mini calla lilies, peach spray roses, touches of bittersweet, and fiddleheads (LOVE the fiddleheads – aren’t they awesome!).

The bridesmaids carried bouquets of terra cotta roses, cymbidium orchids, peach spray roses, bittersweet, and of course more of the fiddlehead ferns.

We love to add a single flower to each place setting.  It really dresses up the table!

This was their candy buffet (note the favor bags in the previous picture) and I wanted to include this picture to show how pretty the votives looked.  We also have gold and silver mercury votives that are available to rent, more colors coming soon!  We also love to add rose petals, and any other extra flowers we have left to tables like this….it is usually the little things like this that really help bring a room together.

I think this cake turned out so pretty. I love the draped fondant and all we did was add a few orchids and some bittersweet.

Here is a final shot of the bridal party.  I loved the bridesmaids short chocolate brown dresses.  Gorgeous!

Thank you Meredith and Dan for choosing us as your wedding florist.  Hope to add some photos of your awesome centerpieces later! We loved doing your flowers!!!

Jersey Shore Wedding Florist: A glance back to Carly and Jeff at Greate Bay Country ClubBy: admin

We first mentioned our relationship with Carly and Jeff in a post last fall, but we have recently gotten access to her professional pictures, SCORE! The wonderful Gary Johnson was her photographer (as well as my own wedding photographer!) and he captured every detail of her wedding day, and I mean EVERY DETAIL. I can always count on him for beautiful work, thanks so much for that Gary!

For Carly’s wedding, she loved loved loved calla lilies and we tried to include them in every aspect for her, I think by her beautiful smile that she was pleased! Her fall wedding at Greate Bay Country Club was on a perfect day, she got lucky with the weather! Dawn and I really appreciated how she let us take the design reigns, Carly wanted to be pleasantly surprised with her flowers on her wedding day and I love that kind of attitude. Give us your vibe and we will take care of the rest! Her mom was so excited for her first daughter to get married, we got tied up in the emotions too haha! Jeff’s mom even got in on the wedding planning fun, which I always think it is nice to include the groom’s side too, everyone wants to help make the day magical! As a mother to a little boy, I am banking on the fact that my future daughter in law will let me in on the wedding planning…fingers crossed! Well, maybe I am jumping the gun a bit, Lee is only 10 months old!

I have been experimenting with the photos on my blog, I think this lightbox gallery player will be easier for you to view the pictures. Just click to scroll through them and the captions are underneath. I think my old way of posting the pics took too long to load, let me know what you think!

Again, a big thanks to Gary Johnson for the pics and the biggest thanks ever to Carly for sharing them all with us! Best of luck with the new puppy Carly and Jeff!

South Jersey Wedding Florist: Feathers make me smile!By: admin

Mary and I love to add little details to each wedding that help make them unique. About a month ago we got to do a wedding for Colleen and Stephen. Colleen was looking for a fall theme with a little something extra. We ran with the theme and decided to make that little something extra feathers. We thought about adding acorns, or fall leaves, but once we saw these feathers we knew we had to use them. The striking hues of dark blue and green and really stood out in the bouquets, adding that extra touch of glamour that we were looking for. Check it out….I def see more feathers in our future (watch out Sarah B….I think your January wedding is going to feature some gorgeous white feathers!).

Colleen’s bouquet included calla lilies, roses, ranunculus, hypericum berries, stephanotis, and of course a few feathers tucked in around the bottom. The bouquet turned out so elegant; I loved the touch of color from the ranunculas and the feathers, it added just the right amount of contrast.

Here is a close up shot of the top of the bouquet. You can see how well everything worked together. The feathers peeking out of the bottom added a touch of fun to this elegant bouquet.

I adored these bridesmaid bouquets. The rich fall colors really popped against truffle gowns. We added more feathers to these, and a strand of dark brown beads strung across the top. The combination of red gerbers, purple lisianthus, yellow roses, with a touch of orange coming from the ranunculus and hypericum berries really created a gorgeous fall bouquet.

I added this picture to show how just a few flowers can really dress up a unity candle. These gorgeous orange roses accented this unity candle perfectly.

Hope you enjoyed our little adventure with feathers….keep on checking, I am sure we will be back with more ideas for feathers through 2010!

Greate Bay Country Club, Somers Point NJ Wedding Florist: Jeff and CarlyBy: admin

Last weekend Mary and I had the pleasure of setting up a wedding at the Greate Bay County Club, http://www.greatebay.com/. Carly and Jeff were so great to work with. Carly gave us a lot of creative license and it all turned out just fabulous. The Greate Bay Country Club in Somers Point was gorgeous, the perfect spot for an outdoor wedding ceremony. Mary and I split up that day as we had another wedding also (blog to come about that one), luckily Mary got some great pictures so I could see how well everything turned out.

The bride's bouquet included orange callas, ivory roses, orange roses, scabiosa stellata, and a croton leaf color. This bouquet was the epitomy of fall, with great colors and lots of different details that made it really unique and one of a kind.

The bridesmaids wore champagne colored gowns. The bouquets were made up of all orange calla lilies, Carly's favorite flower, and I am sure they photographed gorgeous against their champagne gowns.

The bride bought these cute little bags to hold rose petals for her guests to toss as the couple came back down the aisle :)

Here is the gazebo the couple was married in front of. We did a floral arch and 4 accent pieces, it turned out stunning.

Smithville Mansion, South Jersey Wedding Florist: Tiffanie and DonaldBy: admin

Wedding season is back in full force and Mary and I are doing weddings every weekend. On Sept. 5th we had the pleasure of helping set up a gorgeous wedding at the Smithville Mansion. Tiffanie and Donald were a very fun couple to work with and Tiffanie, a wedding planner (http://www.epiphanyevents.com/) had a great vision of what her special day could be. The weather was gorgeous and we loved the final outcome. Mary and I had some ideas of our own and Tiffanie was eager to add some unique elements to her day. The final effect was stunning, with tons of hydrangeas and sunflowers helping to create a vintage, yet modern look.

A monogram 'S' signified the new couples' last name and the bride's bouquet took center state on the sweetheart table.

Chocolate Brown seems to be the new color this fall. These tablecloths were beautiful and really showed off the flowers well. Another great money saving tip is these vase rentals. This bride chose to use these vases on 1/2 of the tables and had her bridesmaid's just drop their bouquets in for a gorgeous final affect. The vases in the center are surrounded by attached votive candles which help add that romantic glow to the reception tent.

For the outdoor ceremony every other chair going down the aisle was accented with an orange gerber daisy tied with a chocolate satin bow.

Mary and I were so excited to try this out. The couple had an arbor and wanted to really play that up. We hung beaded crystal curtains on each side and glued in fresh flowers. It turned out better then we had even imagined and we can't wait to do this again. The beaded curtains are a rental and have endless options.

Flowers….and Fruit!By: admin

We recently met with a bride who is going to use limes in her centerpieces, and I am so excited! For the last few years I have been hoping we would come across a bride who was willing to venture out and do something with fruits. One of Mary’s best friends grew up on an apple orchard and her wedding featured apple blossoms and apples, it was so romantic and pretty; we have just been waiting for a bride to give us the freedom to go ahead and use some fruit in a wedding again. She is going with a pink and lime green theme, and I just know it is going to be stunning. I was inspired and began hunting down some of the saved photos I have of designs featuring fruit….maybe this blog will help to convince other brides to consider using fruit.

This centerpiece would be perfect for a wedding at a winery or vineyard. The hanging grapes are the perfect accent.

This is a modern take on using apples as a 'theme' to the wedding. The green apples and roses look fabulous together, and the apples as placecards adds that extra little touch to the table.

I LOVE this idea. The white pumpkins are gorgeous for fall weddings. The textures and interest in this centerpiece are amazing, everytime I look at it I find something else to love.

This centerpiece immediately makes me think of summer. Guests would love sitting at tables featuring a centerpiece such as this, just imagine the conversation it would generate!

South Jersey Wedding Florist: Hand Picked…By: admin

Mary and I always strive to use the best quality flowers in all of our work….quality does make a difference.  We have started growing some of our own in an effort to better control what we have available to use throughout the year.  Last year Mary’s garden was a great source of hydrangea, zinnias, and at one point we even used beautyberry branches.  We love getting creative with different kinds of flowers and almost always try to order something new for each event, whether it be a new color or a whole new flower we have never used before.  Last year we were clued in to a local wholesale grower that could supply us with cut flowers….we were so excited (thanks Shannon!). Van Dyke Brothers in Millville is only about 20 minutes from us and has become one of our favorite places to visit.  We can go there and hand pick the flower bunches that we want.  We get to check the quality and choose exactly the colors we are looking for.  Using locally grown cut flowers also has become a great way for us to use in season flowers to keep costs down for brides.  We have purchased gorgeous sunflowers in so many different colors and sizes, astilbe, zinnias, lilies, ornamental grasses, dahlias, and vibrant celosia over the past year.  We frequently call to check and see what they have in stock and love when we are able to use them as a source.  Here are a few pictures some of my favorites, utilizing Van Dyke Bros. and some of our own hand grown flowers…
