South Jersey Florist: Lindsay and JD in Bridgeton, NJBy: admin

WOW – wedding season is upon us and Mary and I have been delightfully busy!  Every weekend we are delivering weddings and our coolers are bursting at the seams with tons of flowers….we are incredibly lucky to be so busy :)   We hope you have been enjoying some of April’s blog posts; it has been exciting for us to work with her as one of our brides and now have her working with us.  I have been waiting for a spare moment to share Lindsay and JD’s April wedding with you and once Ryan of RHM Photography sent over these AMAZING photos I knew I just had to make the time!  Ryan is crazy talented and we have loved working with him…check out some more of his awesomeness over on his blog. Working with Lindsay was a joy, this family is seriously one of the sweetest families we have ever worked with. We had the pleasure of doing her sister, Casey’s, wedding flowers last October and were thrilled when Lindsay got in touch with us about her wedding.  Lindsay and JD were having a destination wedding, but couldn’t leave NJ without having a small celebration and we were happy to here to help :)

Ok, is everyone as impressed with this shot as I am?!?!  I love all those cherry petals swirling around them!

undefined

Lindsay carried a bouquet of amazing orange parrot tulips, orange mokara orchids, white hydrangea, white anemone, and white narcissus.

undefined

We wrapped the stems with turquoise satin ribbon and used lace appliques from her mother’s wedding gown to accent… so pretty!

undefined

Nothing like shots of bouquets in fields of flowers!

undefined

Lindsay’s little white dress was so cute!

undefined

Check out that sky….it is gorgeous!

undefined

The bridesmaids carried bouquets of parrot tulips…which I was obsessed with :)

undefined

I love the idea of using just one type of flower for the bridesmaids bouquets…it always looks so fresh.  We wrapped the stems with turquoise ribbon accented with this adorable orange ribbon.

undefined

I had to include this picture because it shows Lindsay and Casey so nicely…aren’t they pretty!?!?!

undefined

Look at how frilly those tulips were!

undefined

I added the orange dotted ribbon on a whim…and loved it!

undefined

LOVE.

undefinedundefinedundefined

They had a dinner reception after the ceremony at The Green Olive in Bridgeton, NJ.  I was really impressed with how nice the room was and how courteous the staff was…would def recommend bride’s in the Bridgeton area to look into this venue!

undefined

Thank you Lindsay and JD for letting us be a part of your day.  We had so much fun doing your wedding flowers!  xoxo

Introducing April Wilson! A Garden Party’s New Gal for Celebrity Weddings!By: admin

Hello everyone. My name is April, and I am super excited to be a guest blogger for A Garden Party. When I was little, I was one of those girls who cut up bridal magazines to piece together my perfect day and who made Barbie get married every other weekend. When I got engaged last spring, my passion for weddings was re-ignited. I enjoyed every moment of the planning, so I enrolled in a program to earn a certificate in wedding and event planning. I loved learning about all the details that make up one of the most magical days in our lives.

Now that I am happily married (since February), I relive the thrill of my special day by admiring other people’s weddings, especially celebrity weddings. I love to see the dresses, the ceremonies, and especially the flowers. Dawn and Mary do a great job sharing pictures from weddings they have worked on, but I’m going to share even more wedding stories.

Once a week, I am going to be reviewing celebrity weddings (and possibly other events) past, present, and future. To start, I’d love to know your favorite celebrity weddings of all time and which upcoming weddings you are most excited about. Please share your thoughts. The best part of other people’s weddings is talking about them. I look forward to our conversations. Have a great day!

This is me with my bridal bouquet. Dawn and Mary did an amazing job!

South Jersey Florist: Michelle and Greg at Lucien’s ManorBy: admin

This morning Mary and I unpacked hundreds of flowers….it was amazing. We have the flower shopped stuffed to the brim with flowering cherry branches (that we cut ourselves!), roses (Cool Water, Esperance, and more!), hydrangea (pink, purple and white!), this amazing hot magenta colored stock, allium, yellow gerbers, phalaenopsis orchids, hyacinth, and tons more….and we have more coming tomorrow and Thursday! This is a big week for us, but we are ready and excited to tackle it :) I don’t want to let any of our blog followers down though (I know there must be some!), so I am making time to squeeze out a blog. One of the exciting things about our job is getting to know our brides. Mary and I went to high school with Michelle, so it was exciting to see her so happy on her wedding day. She was a gorgeous bride and is so in love with her hubby, Greg. They were married at Lucien’s Manor in Berlin, NJ this past November and Michelle sent me those photos courtesy of her photographer, The Pros.

Here is Michelle with her parents.  She carried a bouquet of red gerber daisies, red mini gerbers, and white hydrangea.  We added rhinestones to the center of the gerbers…we love a touch of bling!

undefined

On the pedestals at Lucian’s we filled shallow dishes with floating candles and more of the red gerbers.  We also hung the red gerbers in crystal curtains that flanked the ceremony area.

undefined

The bridesmaids carried coordinating bouquets of white gerber daisies, while the maids of honer carried bouquets of red gerbers.  They all looked so pretty!

undefined

I am in love with these crystal curtains with the gerber daisies hanging in them…it really was striking!

undefined

Check out the sparkle on those curtains!

undefined

The married couple…aren’t they cute?!?!

undefined

We didn’t have too much to do this…but I thought it was fabulous so I had to include it. I believe they made this themselves and I love how it matched the cupcake and cake toppers perfectly. So cute!!!

undefined

Congratulations Michelle and Greg.  We wish you lots of love and happiness in your future together! xoxo

South Jersey Florist: Amanda and Derick at Centerton Country ClubBy: admin

Wedding season seems to have officially arrived…and Mary and I are loving every minute of it.  Our coolers are FULL of gerber daisies, tulips, calla lilies, cherry branches, and so much more.  Opening the boxes every week and checking out all the flowers while we process them just never seems to get old for us….especially this time of year when it seems like there are so many amazing flowers blooming. We have to try and hold ourselves back when it comes time to order, or we run out of space in the coolers!  Mom picked up some awesome locally grown product for us…viburnum, tulips, and allium…that we can’t wait to use for Mother’s Day.  We will be offering delivery on Sunday, so place your order ONLINE today!  Also don’t forget that it is prom season and we are taking prom orders now. You can check out our prom page HERE.  Order your prom flowers one week in advance and we will throw in a free boutonniere!  Ok, now on to the fun stuff :)   Mandy and Derick were married this past October at Centerton Country Club in Pittsgrove, NJ. Mandy was one of those brides that genuinely was so excited about her wedding flowers that it was infectious. I knew we would be in for some spectacular photos when I found out the photographer was Paula Cella Photography and wasn’t disappointed when I saw them.

10/10/10 was a popular wedding date last year so we recruited some help (thanks Diane!).  Here Mary and Diane are tying on Mandy’s grandmother’s ring to the bouquet.

undefined

We added her grandmother’s handkerchief and ring to the bouquet. I love the sentiment behind this…so sweet!

undefined

To this day, anemones remind me of Mandy…she loves them!  To compliment the anemone we used white mini calla lilies, cymbidium orchids, white and pink roses, and snowberry.

undefinedundefinedundefined

Amanda was a GORGEOUS bride

undefined

You really can see just how happy and in love these two are <3

undefinedundefinedundefined

Derick’s boutonniere was a cymbidium orchid accented with the snowberry and wrapped with white ribbon.

undefinedundefined

Gorgeous bridal party!  The bridesmaids carried bouquets of white mini callas wrapped with turquoise ribbon.

undefinedundefinedThe flower girl carried a pomander of white spray roses.undefined

Amanda was the first bride to use our vintage chandalier.  We added hydrangea and crystals and then hung it from the arbor at Centerton Country Club.

undefined

To flank the couple we filled our pillars with hydrangea and curly willow hung with crystals, mirrors, and ribbons with orchids glued on.

To accent the place card table we used out martini glasses filled with pomanders of spray roses and linked with bear grass.

undefined

The tall centerpieces were done in our chic vase.  We filled the vase with turquoise tinted water and submerged dendrobium orchids in the water.  The vase was topped with our crystal chandeliers and a mound of hydrangea and pink roses.

For the low centerpieces we used these black cylinders with a mound of white hydrangea and pink roses.  We accented them with black ostrich feathers, LOVE!

At Centerton Country Club, the sweetheart table is elevated on a stage.  To add some drama to the stage the pillars from the ceremony were brought in and flanked the table.  Behind the couple was an ice sculpture, which we surrounded with wheat grass and fresh flowers.  The bouquets for the bridesmaids bouquets also added to the overall affect.

Thank you Mandy and Derick for letting us be a part of your wedding day.  We loved working with such a fun couple!

The Mansion Wedding Florist: Sarah and SimonBy: admin

Well the GORGEOUS spring weather we have been waiting for in South Jersey has finally arrived!  To honor the beautiful weather I figured I would post a stunning wedding of a couple that is close to my heart, Sarah and Simon.  Simon and I have been friends for sooooo long….he was even a groomsman in my wedding!  Simon and Sarah are a gorgeous couple…and when Sarah booked Tina as her photographer I knew we were in for some amazing pictures. They were married at The Mansion in Voorhees, NJ (one of South Jersey’s nicest venues!), and as usual The Mansion did not disappoint.  Sarah came to us with a color scheme and then kind of let Mary and I run with it…so of course we made sure we used some of our favorite flowers.  Who couldn’t love a day full of quicksand roses, peonies, and garden roses?!?!

Sarah’s bouquet was full of quicksand roses, Sarah Bernhardt peonies, pink piano garden roses, Augusta Louisa garden roses, white freesia, and pink nerine lily.  We wrapped the stems with champagne velvet ribbon and use two skeleton leaves to make a heart accent <3.  Large pearls were the final touch.

undefined

Here is a closeup…I love the soft shades of pink with touches of champagne, it is so pretty and romantic!

undefined

The bridesmaids bouquets were pink piano garden roses, pink peonies, Augusta Louisa garden roses, and nerine lily.  We wrapped them with chocolate brown velvet ribbon to match their gowns and added a gold painted skeleton leaf. We got crafty on this one!

undefined

We love adding little touches like this to make the bouquets stand out.

undefined

At the church we flanked the alter with gold mercury vases full of hybrid delphinium, pinko spray roses, and these awesome Belsong fringed tulips.

undefinedundefined

Pink rose petals were ready in baskets to shower the newlyweds with when they left the church.

undefined

The couple after they were officially married!

undefined

I always love this shot.  The rose petals always look so pretty raining down on the newlyweds!

undefined

I have been dying to show off our new luminaries. Here we set them up on the place card table and filled them with gold painted manzanita branches, hanging pink crystals, and of course fresh flowers.  They are made of wax and we used LED’s inside the vases so that they would glow….GORGEOUS. They can be used to accent a table, line an aisle, centerpieces and more!

undefined

I also am obsessed with this birdcage that our mommom let us borrow…thanks mommom!  We used our pink mercury glass votives to add even more sparkle to the table, so pretty!

undefined

The centerpieces were done in our Diana pedestal vase, which we wrapped with pink rosette ribbon. We used quicksand roses, garden roses, pink hyacinth and tulips.  These smelled amazing thanks to the hyacinth.

undefinedundefinedundefined

We used our coordinating Diana candle holders on the other half of the tables, filled with pink tinted water and gold floating candles.

The bridesmaid bouquets decorate the cake table. undefined

undefinedundefined

Congratulations Sarah and Simon!  We wish you nothing but happiness and love in your future together, xoxo!!!

South Jersey Wedding Florist: Ben and April at The Riverview InnBy: admin

Today has been such a busy day!  We set up the most amazing wedding yesterday at Trump Nation of Pine Hill….I can’t wait to get the pictures back to share with you guys! It was a wedding full of all kinds of natural details…tons of ferns, birch branches, and of course a little bling ;) This morning we got our flower shop back in order (seems that in the middle of creative frenzy that occurs during our flower designing, things seem to get a little messy!). Since then we have been busy pulling together our flower orders for all of the May weddings and now Mary is out meeting with another potential bride :) and I figured while she was out in the shop I would try to get a blog up. Today I want to share April and Ben’s wedding at The Riverview Inn in Pennsville, NJ.  These two are such a cute couple, and as friends of ours, we loved the chance to be a part of their wedding day. Pravada Photography did a great job with the pictures and was kind enough to send some my way.

Aren’t these two such a cute couple?!?!?

undefined

April carried a bouquet of Virginia roses, white lilac, lavender freesia, light pink spray roses, and silver brunia berries.  I LOVE lilac…it is one of those flowers that makes bouquets look so soft and romantic.

undefined

We wrapped the stems of her bouquet with ivory ribbon and light pink lace.  Little light pink pearl pins were the final touch.

undefined

The bridesmaids carried bouquets of lavender roses, lavender lilac, pink spray roses, freesia, and brunia berries.  The stems were wrapped with purple satin ribbon and black lace, which coordinated perfectly with their gowns.

undefined

The ring of flowers around a candle really is one of my favorite centerpiece options.  This is always the perfect size for the table, and is something guests can easily take home with them after the wedding.

undefined

We used green and white hydrangea, lavender roses, pink spray roses, purple trachelium and statice in the rings.

undefined

We got the candles locally from A Whole New Light in Elmer, NJ.  We really enjoy trying to buy supplies and flowers locally whenever possible.

undefined

A family friend did this cake…and I know it doesn’t have any flowers…but it was just too pretty not to share.  Great job Josie!

undefined

Well I just couldn’t end this blog without a photo of Mary getting down on the dance floor with the bride.  Looks like everyone had a good time!

undefined

Thanks April and Ben for letting us be a part of your wedding day.  I loved the chance to work with some of my favorite flowers and to see such a sweet couple getting hitched <3

A Garden Party: Published in Florists’ Review Magazine!!!By: admin

We are excited beyond words about the April issue of Florists’ Review magazine because we have 4 photos featured and Mary was published in an article about marketing! You can find her on page 28 of the April issue of Florists’ Review magazine…check it out here!

It is a little hard to read so here is a recap “When we started our business, my sister and I went around to local reception halls with an impressive arrangement for each and business cards to introduce ourselves and our work.  It was the best thing we could have done!  We have developed strong business relationships and, more importantly, friendships that have brought us a lot of business.  We also made extra copies of our wedding albums, and [the reception facilities] use them to show off what their hall looks like completely decorated and ready for a wedding.  Every year, we take a new album and flowers as a thank-you for referring us.”

As if that wasn’t exciting enough, we also had 4 pictures published in this issue!

Jena’s bouquet was one of my favorites of the year and was featured on page 76 in a piece titled ‘Fashionable Feathers’.  Thanks Tina for the awesome shot!!!

Jena and Mike can also be seen on page 66.  Photo courtesy of that amazing Tina Jay Photography!

Kari and Dave’s ceremony site made the magazine on pages 68 AND 76 in a piece titled “High-Style Aisles”!  Another one of Tina’s photos :)

RHM Photography shared this amazing photo of Casey’s wedding with us, which can be found on page 70…love those pomanders!

I can’t end this blog post without posting a picture of our newest addition to the family.  Our sister, Sara, (yes there is 3 of us, she helps sometimes too!) had her 3rd baby this morning.  Baby Tice made his appearance this morning and Mary and I raced over there to cuddle him :)   Here is a proud Aunt Mary holding him…
