Today's blog features input from the Bride herself on her wedding day!
1. What was your all time favorite moment of your special day?
My favorite moment of the day walking down the aisle and exchanging the garlands. It was a surreal moment walking towards Mike in front of so many people, but the moment I stepped up onto the podium to exchange the garlands it felt like it was just us. The exchanging of the garlands is a fun tradition to see who can get it on the significant other first. The bride and groom get to make a game out of it by trying to make it difficult for the other one to get the garland on. To me, it was a reminder that our wedding day is a fun and joyful occasion and that we should enjoy it.
2. We know things don't always go as planned...Were there any entertaining wedding bloopers?
We lost the wedding garlands and rings in the hotel about prior to the wedding, no one knew where they were 20 minutes prior to the wedding! Thankfully they were found in time :)
3. Any wedding toasts that made you laugh, cry, or gasp?
My sister's speech was one I was surprised at. Apparently when we were kids my mom asked us to make a list of all the things we wanted in a husband. My sister read off my list as part of her speech and Mike fit the list to T. Apparently 13 year old me knew exactly the guy I should marry!
4. It's okay to admit it - did you have any Bridezilla moments?
Absolutely. I flipped out when the photographers were coming because I asked all the bridesmaids to move all of their stuff from the bridal suite prior to the photographer's arrival. Of course when the photographers arrived there was still a lot of their stuff - 12 bridesmaids make for a lot of stuff. Needless to say I freaked out and one of my bridesmaids who had recently gotten married herself jumped into action and got the room cleared in 10 minutes. I am very grateful that I had recent brides in my bridal party!
5. Did you have a wedding planner? If so, did it make your day run smoother? Was it worth it?
I did! I had Nicole Brennan of Lovely Girls Events! The day was so chaotic that I know that I couldn't have had the wedding I did without her help. Having her from day was absolutely a godsend. From reception decor to sound advice when it came to decision making regarding the day, she was a HUGE help. She took a vision I had and made it happen with the help of A Garden Party and Cescaphe.
6. Cake or cupcakes? What was the flavor?
Cake! We had three flavors for each tier: Chocolate Chip, Vanilla, and Red Velvet as the topper.
7. We always try to bring your floral dreams to life...did we succeed? In what ways? Is there any room for improvement?
My bouquet was my favorite floral aspect of the wedding. I Love love LOVED it! It is current dried out sitting on my mantle (shadowbox is on the to do list!) The only thing I wish I could have had in house which couldn't be done was the mandaap. The concept and vision actually came from one of A Garden Party's previous weddings. I loved what A Garden Party did and tried to replicate it, but it would have to be outsourced for the size that it was. That was the only reason we had another company do it since they were contracted out for the lighting already and based in Philadelphia. Creativity for the mandaap goes solely to A Garden Party. As for reception decor I was blown away. What Mary came up with was above and beyond what I expected. Everyone flipped the ceremony room in an unheard of hour and a 1/2 for a 300 person wedding. I myself was surprised when I walked in and saw how beautiful the reception decor was. From the galax leaves in the menu to the gold sprayed succulents and anemones for the cake I was blown away. I love everything about the floral!
8. What song really got the party started?
Out friends and family love to have a good time and party. We had a good mix of Indian and American pop music. The moment the music started playing the dance floor was flooded with guests. It's a running joke that none of our friends took pictures at our wedding because they were too busy dancing and having a great time. We wouldn't have wanted it any other other.
9. Who were your vendors?
Dress: Bought in India
Hair and Makeup: Janelle on Location
Entertainment: The Dhol Xperience
Lighting and Mandapp: Beautiful Blooms
Wedding Planner: Lovely Girls Events
Photographer: Clair Pruett
10. I'm sure your day was amazing, but if you could change one thing about your wedding what would it be? Or would you not change anything at all?
The only thing I would have changed would be scheduling more time in between or before to take pictures. I felt since there were two outfit changes it was a bit rushed and I could have taken more pictures. Otherwise I loved every minute of the day!
