If you have ever been to The Ashford Estate, then you know how beautiful this post will be, featuring a wedding we did last July! Weddings of Distinction owns several venues, including The Ashford Estate, Bonnet Island Estate, Mallard Island Yacht Club, The Stateroom Long Beach Island, and The Mercer Ballroom. Each venue is luxurious and timelessly elegant.
For Christina and Justin, we knew from previous experience with her brother's wedding (hi Dawna and Vince!) at The Carriage House, that this family loves flowers! At every meeting, Christina and her entire family made me laugh and they got us so excited about our floral designs. Many thanks to the Spiezio family for inviting A Garden Party to play such a fun role during a really special day for their family. Her parents and sister, Cassie, helped with all the details, it was lovely getting to know everyone. Her dad = hysterical.
And a huge congrats to Christina and Justin on the birth of their baby girl Ellie last week! We wish you all the best in this fun/scary/exciting time <3
Christina's bride diaries tell the rest of the story, along with lovely photos from John Arcara Photography.
Her bridal bouquet featured white dahlias, lavender clematis, cream lisianthus, seeded eucalyptus and lavender spray roses, finished with lace from her mother's wedding gown.
The traditional Greek ceremony took place at St George Greek Orthodox Church, look at that ceiling!
Cocktails were held in the barn at The Ashford Estate.
Loved making these arrangements with fresh lemons. Fruit + flowers = perfection
The vintage linens are from our collection as well. The ballroom at The Ashford Estate has such beautiful natural light with all the windows, I just love it. Tall centerpieces on our silver vases featured purple hydrangea, oncidium orchids, queen anne's lace, dahlias, and stock. Whimsical lanterns added to the sparkle.
My favorite design, the lemon topiaries that we made were classically beautiful. Wedding stationary provided by Stephanie Somodi.
Christina's Bride Diaries
1. What was your all time favorite moment of your special day?
Best moment of the day hands down was the first kiss. We were both so nervous before the ceremony, but after the kiss all the jitters went away - I felt so comfortable after that I couldn't stop kissing him!
YES! Our first dance… Oh goodness! Justin wanted to dip me at the end of it, which was so romantic, except, he stepped on my dress when he bent me over and almost pulled my top down! Not as graceful or sweet as we had envisioned it going, but it definitely made us laugh.
3. Any wedding toasts that made you laugh, cry, or gasp?
My father's welcoming toast was so funny! He was giving Justin warnings about what he was getting into now that he married a Greek woman. His advice included things like carry all the shopping bags they make you hold with manliness, watch out for the fire in their eyes when they get angry, and keep an open mind when it comes to food because we like to eat! As usual, the man was spot on.
4. It's okay to admit it - did you have any Bridezilla moments?
I actually had to ask my husband if I had any, and he confirms… none!
5. Did you have a wedding planner? If so, did it make your day run smoother? Was it worth it?
If by wedding planner you mean great mothers who helped tie up all loose ends, then yes!
6. Cake or cupcakes? What was the flavor?
We had a cake! Lemon cake with strawberry filling which was colored purple to match our theme.
Mary did an amazing job of bring my lavender and lemon theme to life! She was able to recreate my Pinterest board, understand the jumbled ideas I had, and help give off the feel I was going for. Before our first meeting, I thought my ideas didn't make sense, and she understood from the start what I had wanted and made it come to life! Our centerpieces were varied and creative; we walked from table to table just to see what surprises she had. She made hay bale benches for us, used dried lavender in the decor, and even real lemons all from local farms. She created a photo prop area using antique mirrors, clothes lines, and vintage trunks… Everything from my bouquet to the decor on the cake table was exactly as I had envisioned thanks to Mary and the girls at A Garden Party! I cannot thank you enough!
8. What song really got the party started?
Jason Jani from SCE was our DJ for the night, and he was unbelievable. He created an amazing mix of our favorite songs (a mix of Springsteen and Rihanna) for our introduction to the reception which definitely set the tone for the evening! Everyone was out of their seat from the start!

10. I'm sure your day was amazing, but if you could change one thing about your wedding what would it be? Or would you not change anything at all?
Everything for our wedding was perfect…. except the heat! It was one of the hottest days of the summer, and the groomsmen were such good sports about taking outside pictures in their suits!
