Cape May Wedding Florist : Carissa & Phil at Congress Hall feat. Bride Diaries
When we first talked to Carissa about her wedding, she told us her theme was "black and white with splashes of coral." The end product of her vision can be seen below, and the aesthetics make it seem as if Congress Hall was built with her in mind! This couple have such fun personalities and style, and you can just feel their energy in these photos by RHM Photography. Looking at these photos makes us so pumped for our tasting this Sunday - can't wait to meet our future brides there and see how inspired they are by this bright and cheerful space!
Carissa's bridal bouquet was a mix of white peonies, anemones, roses, ranunculus, and hydrangeas. The black of her bow against her white gown was a great complement to the black centers of the anemones.
Carissa's bridesmaids wore grey gowns that were the perfect backdrops for their bouquets of pink peonies, white hydrangeas, coral daisies and black feathers. Congress Hall is a venue that is easily recognized by its yellow exterior and lush lawn - embracing the pops of color make for some really great photographs.
For the aisle arrangements, we put white hydrangeas in hanging baskets, tied with black and white ribbon. These helped create a cute border for Carissa and Phil as they danced their way to their reception!
Congratulations, Carissa and Phil! Can't wait to share your decor choices with future brides this weekend, hopefully we book clients with the same great taste!
Carissa's Bride Diaries
What was the most standout, "Wow!" moment of your wedding day?
The wow moment of the day was when I first put on my wedding dress, and my photographer took a picture of me standing by a window looking out to the CH lawn where I can see my guests gathering, and I thought “wow, this is it… it’s really happening!"
We know things don't always go as planned...Were there any entertaining wedding bloopers?
To be honest, everything pretty much went to plan. Can’t think of any bloopers.
Any wedding toasts that made you laugh til you cried? Cry your eyes out? Gasp in shock?
I did gasp in shock when my new husband, surprise serenaded me during the reception, singing Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton… the first song he sang to me on my 28th birthday, before we even started dating. It was a very nice surprise.
We don't judge! Did you have any Bridezilla moments of weakness?
I felt like I was just focused on staying calm and trying not to cry, that I actually didn’t have any bridezilla moments. I trusted that my mom, maid of honor, wedding planner, and my husband’s best men would take care of everything… and they did. Lucky me!
Did you have a wedding planner? If so, what did he/she do to make your day run smoother? Did they fulfill your expectations?
My wedding planner, Colleen, made sure all 11 ring bearers/flower girls walked down the aisle, which is NOT an easy task. And what really stood out is after the reception, she made sure all my items were packed in carts and delivered to my bridal suite… I didn’t lose 1 item, which I was expecting I’d do. She fulfilled my expectations.
Cake or cupcakes? What was the flavor and theme?
Our wedding cake was white with black ribbons (to fit our black and white theme). Inside was a vanilla cake with chocolate chips.
We always try to bring your floral dreams to life...did we succeed? In what ways? Is there any room for improvement?
You guys were amazing to work with. I love how you can connect to my Pinterest board, see the direction I wanted in terms of the flowers and decorations, and you incorporated your own ideas to make what I wanted come to life. And we didn’t go back and forth a lot, you knew exactly what I wanted from our first conversation, and gave me a hassel-free experience. Room for improvement? Don’t think I have any suggestions, you all did a wonderful job!
What song really got the party started?
Oddly, What I Got by Sublime.
Who were your vendors?
Catering- Congress Hall
Bakery- Congress Hall
Hair and Makeup- Wenya Chang and Daniella (don’t know her last name)
Entertainment- Unforgettable DJ's
I hope your wedding was exactly as you imagined it would be, but are there any details that went above and beyond your expectations?
I think the beauty of Congress Hall’s lawn for our ceremony was memorable. Plus the way the Banquet Hall was transformed with all the spotlights and flowers was gorgeous.
Anything you wish you would've done differently?
I wish I ate. I heard the food was delicious.
