Today on the blog we feature Jackie and Paul's simply sweet beach wedding at the Corinthian Yacht Club of Cape May . A beautiful bride with beautiful taste, Jackie went with an elegant, blush-themed wedding, and we followed her vision with lots of light pinks, creams, and whites. The small nautical details bring in some dark blues that proved to be the perfect accent color for this Cape May wedding.
A huge thanks to Mike Sperlak Photography for these images of Jackie and Paul's wedding day. He had a ton of photos to go through for the bride and groom's portraits and formal shots, so if you are looking for someone who is guaranteed to get your good side, Mike is your man!
Jackie's bridesmaids had similar bouquets, with spray roses, white eskimo roses, anemones, pink lisianthus and pink stock. They were wrapped in navy blue and white striped ribbon to keep with the nautical theme. Love the flowing gowns, girls! What a great and comfortable look for a beach-themed wedding!
The groom and his men! Here is Paul and his groomsmen, eagerly awaiting for the day's festivities.
We always love this shot, it is so simple, yet so packed with romance!
This altar at Our Lady Star of the Sea is classic and elegant - every ceremony we've done here has come out to be incredibly timeless.
Some more formal shots in the beautifully green streets of Cape May. When will we be in a season with color again?!?
Jackie and Paul chose this gorgeous draped tent to create a more enclosed area above the Corinthian Yacht Club's patio. This venue has got the perfect set-up for some insane sunset viewing - and what is more romantic than an ocean sunset??
Jackie's centerpieces were simple low arrangements of roses, stock, pink hydrangea, lisianthus, and dahlias in our glass cylinders. A navy blue and white striped ribbon tied with a nautical knot was a nice added detail to go with her linens and theme.
Yum yum! Jackie and Paul's cake had the sweetest (pun intended) rows of ombre blue and pink. We added some more eye catchers with these fun pink roses and spray roses, and huge dahlia.
Congratulations, Jackie & Paul!!
Jackie's Bride Diaries
What was the most standout, "Wow!" moment of your wedding day?
Definitely when I walked down the aisle with my dad, and saw Paul and the church full of our family and friends. I was excited, but anxious the morning of, at that moment all of the stress went away!
We know things don't always go as planned...Were there any entertaining wedding bloopers?
It was the perfect day despite many things not going exactly as planned. Right before I walked down the aisle my dad whispered to me that he had borrowed my uncle's jacket. The company he rented his tuxedo from forgot to include his jacket and he didn't check until the morning of the wedding. At that point all you can do is really laugh about it!
Any wedding toasts that made you laugh til you cried? Cry your eyes out? Gasp in shock?
Our best man was my husband's best friend from college and roommate of many years. My husband and I met in Avalon, New Jersey and there were many late nights spent that summer outside of Circle Pizza The best man had many stories about that first summer (luckily he was kind, haha) and brought a pizza box as a prop.
We don't judge! Did you have any Bridezilla moments of weakness?
Haha, yes! I surprised myself, as I was pretty laid back through the the process, but the week before was overwhelming! We got married in Cape May and I realized the day before the wedding that I had forgotten to pack the vases for the candles I planned to use as decorations for half of the tables! I still can't believe I did that! I had ordered floral bouquets for other half of the tables and luckily the Yacht Club and A Garden Party saved the day at the last minute!
Did you have a wedding planner? If so, what did he/she do to make your day run smoother? Did they fulfill your expectations?
No, I was lucky to have so much help from my mom, dad, sisters, and mother-in-law before the wedding. As much as I really enjoyed the whole planning process and researching vendors, in hindsight I think it would have been worth it to hire a planner the day of the wedding. It would have been nice to be able to enjoy the few days before the wedding spending time with my family and friends in Cape May, and less stressful! I left so much to do the last week before the wedding, hotel bags, printing seating arrangements, programs, etc., so I definitely recommend doing these types of things as much in advance as possible. Chris and Harry at the Yacht Club were great, too!
Cake or cupcakes? What was the flavor and theme?
Wedding cake and petit fours for dessert. I love desserts and was so happy with our decision to order from Baked Pastry in Marmora, and it was so delicious!!! It was two layers of chocolate with chocolate filling and two layers of vanilla with strawberry filling. The cake had simple white icing with flowers from A Garden Party, and a topper from Etsy. We also had four different petit four flavors: lemon, chocolate peanut butter, strawberry shortcake, and s'mores, they were incredible! We were able to enjoy leftovers the day after the wedding looking through all of our wedding photo booth pics with leftover champagne.
We always try to bring your floral dreams to life...did we succeed? In what ways? Is there any room for improvement?
Yes, I loved my flowers so much!!! My mom and I really enjoyed meeting with Mary and choosing all of the details in the shop at A Garden Party. The process was so great, from the few details I gave to Mary she really got exactly what I wanted. I loved the soft pink colors, contrast of the anemones, and uniqueness of the dahlias, the bouquets were really beautiful. I still get compliments from guests on my flowers! I also loved the boutonnieres and bracelets for the mothers and my grandmother. Really my only regret was forgetting to attach a locket to my bouquet. My cousin had given me a locket that had lace from my grandmother's wedding dress inside, and with all of the details the day of the wedding, I forgot to attach it.
What song really got the party started?
Our first dance was to The Best is Yet to Come, and the dance floor was packed for the rest of the night!

Any other vendors you would like to credit?
I highly recommend any of our vendors, they were all excellent and easy to work with!
I hope your wedding was exactly as you imagined it would be, but are there any details that went above and beyond your expectations? Anything you wish you would've done differently?
It was the best day! Everything at the Yacht Club was perfect, and the food was so delicious! The church was beautiful and the pictures turned out better than I could have imagined! I know I am biased, but I think the Yacht Club is the most beautiful venue in Cape May. It was the best moment when we walked into the Yacht Club before the reception. It was the perfect day with the sun shining on the bay, sailboats, and beautiful tent. Better than we could have imagined!
