Cape May Wedding Florist : Kristin & Kevin at Congress Hall feat. Bride Diaries
Kristin and Kevin's Congress Hall wedding was certainly an affair to remember. Kristin's style was a delicate balance of vintage accents with fall elements to create a truly elegant and beautiful reception. RHM Photography once again did not disappoint with these wonderful photographs capturing the soft and romantic aura that surrounded this November wedding. Every little detail was special and carefully thought out (shout out to Krystina Kennedy, the Congress Hall wedding coordinator, for bringing everything together), and we couldn't be happier to invite you to join in viewing the series of events on Kristin and Kevin's special day.
We wrapped this sweet bouquet in pieces from both of Kristin's grandfathers' sweaters, to keep it warm on it's journey to the beach. She also used a blue earring from her grandmother and the little butterfly was her sister-in-law's brooch (who was unable to attend), so that all could be present for her walk down the aisle.
There are many amazing bridesmaid gowns that we see here in the office, but these champagne and ivory dresses definitely stand out. We made bridesmaid bouquets similar to Kristin's, with garden, mother of pearl, and quicksand roses, silver brunia berries, and eucalyptus.
There he is! The handsome groom wore a bout of spray rose, waxflower, and seeded euc, wrapped in a neutral colored yarn.
What a good-looking ringbearer!
We made aisle arrangements out of bunches of orchids tied with lace and white ribbons.
A bride's beaming smile is her best accessory!
Kristin and Kevin's reception space was filled with tons of details to create a one-of-a-kind experience for their guests. This Pashmina station was the just tip of the iceberg - can't say we would have minded getting our hands on one of those!
We staged this gorgeous vintage-themed scene for Kristin and Kevin's guest list. This dresser had a custom Abbey Malcolm Press decal made, welcoming guests to the wedding. We embellished with gold pumpkins, gold tapers and pewter candle holders. A pewter mug and teal tray were placed for us to fill with pink and white roses, baby's breath, scapiosa stellata, and succulents. We just love the open drawer stuffed with flowers!
These mirrored doors were used with another Abbey Malcolm Press decal labeling all of their guests and their seating arrangements. Cinderella pumpkins were painted with gold accents, and our vintage suitcase was placed to bring even more flowers to this beautiful scene.
Kristin and Kevin's centerpieces were just as elegant as the rest of their decisions. Our candelabras were topped with arrangements of white hydrangea, nude carnations, white stock, champagne roses, ivory roses, spray roses, dusty miller, and eucalyptus. Gold mercury votives and bud vases at the base completed this high-end look.
These cute little pumpkins were painted to be used as the table numbers! What a cute way to incorporate fall!
Kristin and Kevin's sweetheart table was the big statement piece of the night. Our "Love" sign was filled with baby's breath and roses and accented with votives to add an extra level of romance to the couple's table.
And then there was cake! A gold linen with pewter mugs and mercury candle holders were the accessories for this delicious piece of decor. A tier of roses for the top and middle layers (with some accents of course!) were the final touches to bring this dessert corner together.
Congratulations, Kristin and Kevin, and thank you for inviting us to help with your special day! We actually just worked with this couple for a styled shoot recently, and hope that we get to work together again soon! XOXO
Kristin's Bride Diaries
What was the most standout, "Wow!" moment of your wedding day?
The most "wow" moment of my wedding day was when my Dad and I walked into the church.... we were in our own little world. We were holding hands, and crying, and laughing, and probably each replaying every single memory we've ever had together in our heads.... and all of a sudden we caught eyes and we became hysterical....we could not stop laughing! To say the least, we were not at all prepared for the doors to open and we both became extremely nervous! Finally, I saw my future husband standing on the altar waiting to marry me. I had a rush of all memories of my past, all the emotions of the present, and all of the excitement for our future all at once. It was the most amazing moment of my life--to walk with my Dad, seeing all of the people I love around me, and to finish our walk in Kevin's arms. Best moment ever!
We know things don't always go as planned...Were there any entertaining wedding bloopers?
There sure were! Lets see... Kevin spent hours painting signs for us that we wanted to hold in some of our photos. A "Mr. and Mrs. sign", a "Thank You" sign, and a sign with our date on it... we 100% forgot to bring them. My Maid of Honor (cousin and BEST FRIEND), Lauren, had an epic meltdown in the makeup chair while rehearsing her speech in her head... She cried the biggest tears I have ever seen in my entire life, with makeup streaming down her face. Our amazing makeup artist, Russell, gave me an eyeliner pen and the two of us played "tic-tac-toe" on Lauren's cheek in black eyeliner until she stopped crying. Perhaps the biggest wedding blooper was while I was getting my shoes on... Lauren (a true gift from God at this point of the day), was under my dress in an panicked attempt to find my feet (because lets be serious, I've never worn a ball gown before)... and after helping me with my shoes, she fluffed my gown and smoothed it down only to find that the gown had perfect pink lipstick prints from her lips... It may have been the funniest moment of the entire day.
Any wedding toasts that made you laugh til you cried? Cry your eyes out? Gasp in shock?
Everyone's toast was beyond anything we could have expected. My Dad for sure blew us away. We are insanely emotional and I had no idea what he would say, or how he would say it while keeping composed. His speech was perfect. Full of love, memories, encouragement and perfectly delivered advice. He made me feed like the most important person in his world, and his love for his new Son-In-Law shone through! I love listening to it over and over again while watching our wedding video!
Our Best Man and Maid of Honor also made us laugh, and cry. They were unbelievable. Andrew's speech was full of motivation, love and encouragement. Lauren's speech was an emotional and hilarious walk down memory lane, she captured everything from the 27 years we've been best friends, to the past 8 years she's known Kevin. Truly, we wouldn't have changed a thing!
We don't judge! Did you have any Bridezilla moments of weakness?
Really? I may need to forward this question to my bridesmaids :) . My biggest meltdown was at 6am on our wedding day.... We were all supposed to be ready for hair and makeup to start at 6... I was in my bedroom when I saw Russell, our makeup artist at the front door. As I walked down the hallway to head downstairs to let him in, I realized that not only was no one ready, but no one was awake... To say the least, Bridezilla made an appearance at 6am on my wedding day.
Did you have a wedding planner? If so, what did he/she do to make your day run smoother? Did they fulfill your expectations?
I am so glad I get to answer this question! YES! Krystina Kennedy! She was the most unbelievably, amazing person EVER! I truly do not know what I would have done without her! Krystina made everything so simple! She was a true calming force throughout all of the craziness, and she was incredibly fun to work with! She talked be down more times than I can count, and she made us feel like no matter what--everything would work out perfectly. She was right! Congress Hall is very lucky to have her! I never want to plan anything again without her help! She is simply amazing!!
Cake or cupcakes? What was the flavor and theme?
Cake... I'm an ice cream girl, so I have to admit that Kevin choose the cake, and to this day, I have no idea the flavor! However, he reports that he chose vanilla with chocolate ganache and (I quote) "chocolate and raspberry...or something". He promises that he cake was delicious...whatever the flavor!
We always try to bring your floral dreams to life...did we succeed? In what ways? Is there any room for improvement?
Succeed? I can say, without a doubt, that everything from our first meeting with Mary, to my bridal bouquet that is still hanging beautifully dried out in our living room, was above and beyond anything we could have ever imagined. A Garden Party made our wedding spectacular! The bouquets were the most beautiful flowers I have ever seen, and my bridal bouquet took my breathe away. It was quite the emotional ride, planning a wedding without special loved ones who couldn't be there, and Mary personalized my bouquet with sweaters from both of my Pop-Pops who have passed away, a blue earring from my Mom-Mom who has passed away, and a butterfly pin for my Sister In Law Maura who wasn't able to attend. Mary made everything more special than we could have ever asked for. She listened to our vision and brought it to life in an amazingly, artistic, beautiful way. The work that was put in to every single detail was so evident, and we appreciated and loved it all! The only room for improvement was that she live closer to us so we could visit her farm and purchase her arrangements more often! We absolutely love A Garden Party--we were thrilled with every single thing they did for us from start to finish! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
What song really got the party started?
Hmm... I love "Shout"--so I'm just going to go with that! I'm more of a soft-rock kind of girl, so most of the music I was dancing to I was hearing for the first time :)

I hope your wedding was exactly as you imagined it would be, but are there any details that went above and beyond your expectations? Anything you wish you would've done differently?
Everything was above and beyond our expectations. I don't regret, and would never change a single thing. It was a perfect day full of love, family, friends and amazing memories.
